You could choose the english button, speak into the phone, then choose the french button to have the phone translate the phrase, and use Mac's "VoiceOver" program to say the phrase. The phone could then be prepared to receive the french reply and reverse the process. You could enhance the features by including multiple interpretations and you could have the phone recognize possible key phrases that could be live links (for directions, business names...).
